A whole new look for your interior to start the new year fresh? We have listed the best interior design trends for you!

Interior design trends: RETRO

The retro look is coming all the way back in 2022. But just a little more modern. The color orange that used to be abundantly used in this trend is now being replaced by “terra. This is a softer shade of orange that you might dare to use faster than the brighter orange of the past. This look is characterized by cheerful patterns, seats and chairs with floral prints and geometric wallpaper. Where you used to have scrap metal in the wall, we are now more often opting for the lath wall. Polka dots are also finding their way back into our living room. With the retro look you create a cozy and warm space.

Interior design trends: URBAN NINETIES

Are you also in need of nostalgia? Feel free to use this trend as an excuse to bring out all the fun interior stuff from the good old nineties again. Neon colors, graphic prints and eye-catching accessories. It’s all possible. Add the urban element by using graffiti, concrete, steel and graphic elements such as light boxes, letters and numbers.

Interior trends: SUSTAINABLE

That we are thinking more often about what we eat and wear is nothing new. But even in our interiors we are increasingly going for sustainable. Are you going for a sustainable look? Then look carefully at the materials you are going to use. Some good examples for materials are mycellium leather, material made from PET bottles, felt, bamboo and rattan. Do you like to use wood? Then mango wood is a good option for you. In fact, mango wood is a by-product of fruit farming. What you may not immediately realize is that paint is also very polluting and can contain hazardous substances. Fortunately, there are now brands that offer sustainable(er) paint. Some examples:

What else should you think about when picking out furniture?

  • Choose quality.
  • Can you modify/paint/… your old furniture so that the item is as good as new again? This will save you some money as well. Nice touch.
  • Don’t buy impulsively, but think about it for a while (does the item fit your style?).

Interior trends: SMART FURNITURE

In recent years, we are more and more at home to work, but also to relax. Our furniture is also adapting to our changed lives, and some of them fall under the name “smart furniture. But what exactly does that mean? Smart furniture can usually be recognized by a built-in technological feature. Think USB charging ports, speakers and touch screens, for example. Anno 2022, of course, items must also be stylish. Fortunately, people are now taking this into account while designing smart furniture (or mostly, anyway).

Interior design trends: ROUND AND ORGANIC SHAPES

In 2021, did you love the organic shapes you saw in just about every interior design store? This trend continues (thankfully) in 2022. Some love this trend because it gives your space something calm and familiar, which we can definitely use in these tougher times. Others just think it’s beautiful and that’s definitely reason enough to bring the trend into your home too! Looking for more inspiration? Check out the latest home trends.
