Antwerp new website and renovation markets: antwerpenrenoveert.be

All homes in Flanders must have an EPC label A by 2050. This is the renovation obligation. But how do you do it? City of Antwerp is organizing 12 renovation markets from April 20 to May 30 for its residents. Antwerp residents can ask all their renovation questions to advisors. At the same time, they also discover the importance of renovating. Find all the info at www.antwerpenrenoveert.be.

New website www.antwerpenrenoveert.be

Flanders is asking all homeowners to achieve an energy label A by 2050. To achieve that, many houses and apartments still need to be addressed. That year may seem far away, but renovation costs time and money. By getting informed now, taking advantage of advice and financial support, owners can spread their renovations over time and keep them affordable. Since Jan. 1, 2023, there has already been a renovation requirement. Anyone who buys a house with a poor energy label is obliged to renovate it energetically within a certain period of time. To assist Antwerp residents with these renovations, the city of Antwerp developed a website on which a step-by-step plan and an overview of all forms of support can be found. Alderman for the environment Tatjana Scheck explains:

“The Flemish objective for the energy efficiency of buildings has a major impact on everyone who owns a house or apartment in Antwerp. Therefore, as a city, we want to reach everyone who has questions about energy renovation. On www.antwerpenrenoveert.be residents will find an overview of the financial help they can apply for and a handy step-by-step plan for getting their home to energy label A. They will also find a list of advisors who can help them with questions about energy, renovation and even greening and softening.”

Check your EPC and roadmap

At www.ant werpenrenoveert.be, homeowners will find the online tool “Check your home. The result gives them an estimate of their EPC label, an overview of the necessary renovation steps towards energy label A and an estimate of renovation costs and savings. Anyone with further questions can request tailored advice via the site. Because 70% of Antwerp residents live in apartment buildings, apartment dwellers and co-owners’ associations also find extensive information on the site about, for example, renovating the common parts. They will also find an overview of tailored financial support. Landlords of apartments or houses in Antwerp who want to know what the renovation obligation means for them can also go there for information and advice. Finally, tenants will find lots of energy saving tips and contact information for free home energy advice on the brand new website. Want to know more about all the housing scores and gauges? Visit one of the 12 renovation markets

At Antwerp Renovates markets, residents have the opportunity to present all their renovation questions to consultants. Alderman for the environment Tatjana Scheck says:

“Because we know that every renovation is different, the advisors will come to each district from April 20 until the end of May to talk to as many Antwerp residents as possible. At the renovation markets, you can drop in without obligation to get information, ask for advice tailored to your plans, or listen to inspiring speakers. Those who come with children can count on a children’s corner and a treasure hunt.”

Green expert and free trees

In addition, Antwerp residents can also get advice from a green expert at the renovation markets to make their plot greener and to recover and reuse rainwater. Antwerp residents with a garden who have room for a tree are given advice on what type of tree would do well in their garden. As an extra, the city is handing out 2,000 free trees this year, which can be reserved at markets, among other places, and can be picked up in the fall.
